Further delays to Penge High Street road works

This is the latest we have from the council:

I know you will be concerned about the on-going works but I regret to inform you that following additional survey works, we have reluctantly accepted that further works are needed to repair yet another section of the collapsed sewer. Consequently, excavation work near the junction with Cottingham Road is underway, with the third set of repairs to the sewer completed. The latest ‘collapse’ was not seen on previous CCTV surveys as there was a blockage in the sewer preventing the remote camera getting that far.

This latest work will take around four weeks to complete, with current traffic management measures staying in place. We have said that this work will break the Christmas moratorium of works that we try to abide by but the seriousness of the collapse has led Thames Water to conclude that the work needs to completed now…
